October 28th marked the beginning of Homecoming week at Buffalo Island Central, and November 1st was the day of the Homecoming game. Every year at BIC homecoming maids are voted on by the student body. This year, freshman Macie Hatch was one of the people chosen by her peers to represent their class.

When asked how she felt about being chosen, Macie said, “Being chosen to represent my grade has been my favorite thing about Homecoming. I love all of the activities and participating in events. It’s an honor and I am very glad to do it.”

Like being a good representative of her class, preparing for homecoming is an important part of being a maid, and maids have to spend a surprisingly long time getting floor-ready.

“Getting your nails done, a spray tan, finding the perfect dress and shoes takes up a lot of time, but it’s also a lot of fun. I like to think of it as a creative process,” said Hatch.

Being on the Homecoming court leaves a lasting impression on those that are chosen.

“I am very thankful for being on Homecoming court and for having the opportunity to represent my class. It’s a privilege to be a part of this Buffalo Island tradition.”
