Cason Kifer is a Senior known among the student body as a standout person on campus. Having a reputation as a diligent student and responsible young man , there is a side to Kifer that many may not know about him: he is an emotionally intuitive artist who blends technical precision with deep, empathetic expression. He always liked listening to music and wanted to play what he heard.
Kifer’s passion for music started at a young age. “I really got into music starting in the 7th grade. That’s when I got old enough to think about what I was interested in. When I was young, my parents decided to help me out with my musical interests,” said Kifer.
Kifer is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays drums, guitar, saxophone, harmonica and bass. He aspires to play violin as well.
“I learned so many instruments just because I want to be a whole one man band. I love to play music by myself, but I love to be in a band as well,” said Kifer.
Cason got all his musical inspirations from classic bands like Radiohead, The Beetles, Primus, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams Jr, and Chris Cornell. His biggest inspiration, however, is his dad.
“My dad started learning guitar with me, it helped having someone else with me,” said Kifer. “My dad and I have bonded over music. Not just playing, but listening. We have similar musical taste, and it’s something we talk about often together.”
In addition to playing in the BIC high school band, as well as a band with his fellow classmates, Kifer has started a new musical endeavor – playing in a praise band at the Monette First Baptist Church.
Chris Applegate, a member of Kifer’s church, asked him if he would be interested in joining the band, and Kifer eagerly agreed. The band formed in September of 2025, and performs on Sundays before the congregation.
Kifer desires for this newly formed band can be of service to his church and community alike.
“I hope that we can glorify God and produce joyful music for the future,” said Kifer.
