On October 1st, the students of Buffalo Island Central High School held a “Pink Out” to kick off the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Together, they donned their most flamboyant pink outfits and set up donation jars all over campus to raise money for breast cancer research.

To bring a sense of competition to the event, there was a prize for the student who wore the best pink outfit.  It was a close call, but senior Jacob Foutch took home the gold. He received the grand prize of a $10 Subway gift card.

This event was done as a tribute to honor the memory of Mrs. Lela Ashley, a beloved BIC teacher who recently passed away due to this unfortunate disease.  All proceeds raised during this month long fundraiser will be donated to breast cancer research in her name.
