Just a couple of weeks ago, the new Dollar General opened in Monette. The Dollar General is comparable with the one in Manila and Leachville. The Dollar General in Monette is just like the popular chain’s locations in surrounding towns.

Obviously, this Dollar General is newer. Therefore, the technology of the store is more up-to-date. There are automatic doors and new register equipment. So far, everything has been kept clean and the store is very organized.

Farmers Market, on the other hand, has more variety of food. Yes, Dollar General offers food, but it is mainly the basics, whereas Farmers Market specializes in food. At Dollar General, you can get things like milk, frozen pizza, dinner trays, chips, crackers, cookies, canned food, etc.

Having a dollar store in Monette is a great advantage. First of all, it offers a variety of non-food supplies. You can get household items, cleaning supplies, yard decorations, personal items, toys and much more. Also, we are offered more in our town. Instead of driving 10-15 minutes to get supplies, we only drive about five.

The prices of the items are low. They aren’t as low as Wal-Mart, but they are close. You can go to the dollar store and buy items that are a dollar or two cheaper than their competitor.

I give Dollar General a “yay”. It was very clean and organized. It also offers many, many things that you had not been able to buy in Monette before.
