The Transformers franchise started in 2007, a year that was known for big blockbusters such as Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Transformers still stood out among the crowd as an eye grabber, ear grabber, and exciting origin story worthy of both the die hard and new fans from the beloved franchise.
The journey takes us to Cybertron, where we meet a young and ambitious mining robot named Orion Pax voiced by Chris Hemsworth. As Orion faces the intricacies of his planet’s corrupt administration, he teamed up with a trusted cosmonaut D-16 sidekick sworn by Brian Tyree Henry in his quest against the villainous Sentinel Prime by Jon Hamm.
Among the many great things about Transformers is its quality of animation. This film shows off its stunning visuals, where one gets to capture the attention with different aspects of Cybertron being very detailed and textural with everything created in the digital world. Its epic sounding battle sequences prove to be matched only with heart pumping chase sequences.
Even so, what will separate the classic Transformers from the new stories is the depth of the characters and, honestly, the story. The voice cast will shine in performances such as the terrific Hawkes’s mix of humor and heroism as he does his part for Orion Pax. Beautifully timeless and relating themes like friendship, loyalty, and self discovery, it will give the families and fans of all ages a chance to enjoy.
If you don’t know where to start in the movie franchise, Transformers is where to start. At some point in time, then this is where you would be seeing the very beginnings of Optimus Prime and Megatron. This would cater even to first comers, but the film has got much to offer.
On the whole, I would give Transformers 4.5 stars of 5. It’s very entertaining, visually appealing, and also has a heavy emotional punch. So, everybody can grab their popcorn and roll with the Autobots!
