Senior Nicole Jones made a decision that will forever impact her life on Thursday, October 10th, 2024. This was the day that she made a commitment that will change the course of her future when she held her hand up and solemnly swore to support and defend the Constitution. Serving our country is something that Nicole Jones has had a passion for since middle school. She was deeply influenced by her family and friends that served in the military.
“I wanted to be the first person to enlist after my great grandfather on my dad’s side and I knew I wanted to join when I heard of what all my family did when they enlisted,” said Nicole. She then said that her family had played the biggest role in her choice to enlist.
“Even though I knew it would be hard, I always wanted to be a part of it and make someone proud of me,” declared Jones. She said that she wanted to see what it would be like and loves to be challenged. “I love learning new things and to be faced with a challenge,” she stated.
Nicole plans on going to Arkansas State University after basic training, where her tuition will be completely paid for. She signed a 6 year contract, but will be serving for 8 years in total. She then says that there is a good chance that she will sign another contract to continue serving depending on how these 8 years go.
