Lady Mustangs coach back in the game
September 26, 2014
A new face will be leading the Lady Mustangs this year. Coach Justin Yates started this year alongside the new faculty at BIC, but he is already working with our teams like he has coached here for the past decade.
“I am thoroughly enjoying my time here at BIC,” Yates said. “I’d been out of coaching for six years and I am excited to be back in it. There is no place, in my opinion, to be than at Buffalo Island.”
Yates loves coaching basketball and has had a good amount of experience in doing just that. Coach Yates last coached at Annie Camp Jr. High in the Jonesboro school district, so there his coaching style is undergoing a change from that last experience. He also coached boys’ basketball in 2004 at Swifton, but he does have experience in coaching girls basketball.
A main goal for Coach Yates is to get the senior high girls to the state tournament, and he says there is definitely the talent to do so. Once the season starts, he is confident that people will see a good product with our team.
“I think athletically we will offer a complete change from what a lot of people are used to seeing in BIC girls’ basketball,” Coach Yates said.
