“ASMA stands for Arkansas School for Mathematics Science and the Arts which is a residential high school for Juniors and Seniors. Over the summer, I went to the Helix Project which is basically a two week camp. It was, to an extent, simulating what going to school there would be like. We went to classes all day where we did things like logic puzzles, leadership activities, and engineering competitions. After classes a lot of students hung out in downtown Hot Springs, which was just walking distance from the school. I mostly just wanted to see if I liked the school and get a feel for what it would be like living away from home. I mean BIC is an amazing school, but the fact that ASMSA is catered for “academically talented ” students makes it a more rigorous program. I honestly just want to have the opportunity to learn as much as I possibly can and get into the college of my dreams.”
