Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theaters on July 26, 2024. Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Ryan Reynolds, this movie was an almost guaranteed hit.Almost everyone knew that this was going to be a big deal as Shawn Levy directed other mega hits such as Stranger Things (2016), Real Steel (2011), and the Night at the Museum franchise. Add actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and you are sure to have a recipe for success.
The movie was filled with comedy from start to end and the fight scenes were very impressive and detailed. Hugh Jackman’s sarcasm as Wolverine was executed naturally, as was Ryan Reynolds’ comedic relief. The ending was worth holding your breath over. The rising climax of the movie really made me, and everyone else who was there also, really feel for Deapool and Wolverine.
This new addition to the popular Deadpool and Wolverine franchises gives the audience a new perspective to the beloved characters. Seeing the two work together was unexpected but very exhilarating to those who watched them growing up. The connection between Wolverine and Deadpool is portrayed beautifully all throughout the film. Seeing the hardships they both had to endure together, and seeing them become closer together and eventually come to depend and work with each other had excellent timing. This was definitely one of the best superhero portrayals of a strong friendship where no one gets left behind.
Although this movie is meant for a more mature audience, I do recommend it to people who are of the required age. Parents who are wondering if this is an action here movie they can bring their children to should definitely pass on this film. The film is chalked full of violence and swearing that could be off-putting to some audiences, but can make for a great comedy for people who are unbothered by these characteristics.
