2020 NHS Induction held at Buffalo Island Campus
January 21, 2020
The annual National Honor Society induction ceremony is an event to recognize the most dedicated of students from the 8th to 12th grade. To be inducted into the National Honor Society, one has to keep a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above and must be enrolled in the Honors Program. Every year students are honored for their achievements and reintroduced into the program. The National Honor Society rewards students for much more than their academics, though. Members are also recognized for their character, scholarship, service, and most importantly their leadership. The most reputable and esteemed students within NHS have the opportunity to earn a scholarship of up to $25,000.
Each one of these inducted students is supported and respected by their peers, parents, and teachers. Every year the BIC gymnasium is filled with people young and old to encourage and congratulate each and everyone of these students.
At each NHS induction ceremony there is a guest speaker that delivers a speech to the students. This year, Mr. Curtis Hitt spoke at the induction ceremony. Mr. Hitt is a distinguished lawyer who lives and practices in Paragould, Arkansas. He graduated from Buffalo Island Central High School and is a proud Mustang to this day. Mr. Hitt came equipped with a plethora of tips and life lessons for the NHS members. Some motivating words that Mr. Hitt said at the event were, ”We’re all sacrificing everything for something… just make sure it’s a worthwhile cause.”
With an excellent speaker and an excellent set of students, this year’s National Honor Society induction was a successful and touching event. Mr. Curtis Hitt’s inspiring words will fortify these future leaders for their lives to come.
